Numerology v2.2

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

Details:

The Pitch Glide feature in Numerology’s MonoNote sequencing module lets users easily add pitch bends to acid-style monophonic sequences.

The new speech synthesis option in Numerology 2.2 gives users direct access to OS X’s built-in speech synthesizer. Implemented through a new “Speak” option on the Audio Sample module, users can enter the text to be spoken and choose from any of the twenty-four built-in voices in OS X.

Numerology 2.2 adds built-in support for MOTU’s Volta and Expert Sleepers’ Silent Way by providing expanded audio routing options and direct conversion from Numerology’s internal CV signals to the automation inputs of each plugin. The ability to directly pipe CV signals from Numerology to analog equipment, without the resolution and data-rate limitations of MIDI, expands the compositional options available to analog synthesists.

UMI3 from Logidy

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

Description:

The UMI3 features 3 configurable footswitches and an input for an expression pedal, encased in a rugged steel stomp box.

It connects to a Mac or a PC through USB and shows up as a class compliant MIDI device. No driver is required. It is powered through USB.

It behaves like a three note keyboard right out of the box, but can be configured to send many other types of messages to take full advantage of the MIDI mapping features included in most of today’s DAWs. The configuration happens in a friendly setup panel for Mac or PC available for download at Logidy’s website.

The panel can also work as a step sequencer where the function of a given footswitch can be changed each time it is pushed, or when another switch is pushed. Setups can be designed to trigger as many as 24 different MIDI events.

Plinkton

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

Audio Damage’s Chris Randall joined the iPhone Cock Fest today, introducing Plinkton (App Store link), a generative ambient music app, released under the Naughty Panther moniker.

Naughty Panther describes Plinkton as an application that lets you “create a rhythmic groove over a bed of smooth ambiance.”

Plinkton is less Kenny G, though, and more ambient Pong.

The app lets you select from three background tracks and 4 “plinkton sounds”. The “plinkton” moves around the screen, triggering sounds as it bounces off the edges of the screen.

Plinkton can also act as an OSC sender, letting you use it to trigger other apps.

Phase Shifter

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

In the late 60’s composer Steve Reich stumbled across a technique he called phasing, which was to have two identical tape loops that run at slightly different speeds, the result is that every possible combination of sound is cycled through until they arrive back in sync. The result with a melodic piece of music is that it moves through moments of chaos and moments of melody.

Phase Shifter is a Windows VST designed to make it easy to create phase shifting music, like the early work of Steve Reich. It also has a built in recorder so that the output can be recorded directly to disk. It works by loading up to 2 WAVs, and is triggered via a MIDI keyboard. Middle C will play the WAV at it’s original speed.

New Album; Two More Songs

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

Boyzone is planning to release the new album in dedication to their dead vocalist Steven Gately. This information was given by the band members in an exclusive interview to Sky News. As Ronan Keating noted, Steven had time to record two songs for the album, so it’s going to be the last record on which it will be possible to hear him. Besides the fact that the public will hear the album in 2010, there is no other information at all. Thirty three years old Gately had died on October 10 on Mallorca due to some serious lung inflamation. His family calls it “tragic coincidence”, also disproving nasty rumours that it was the effect of alcohol abuse. He was buried on October 17 in Dublin; his homeland. Irish pop-group Boyzone was founded in 1993 and in certain time had experienced the world wide popularity; all it’s albums hit number one on the British charts. Eventually, they’ve sold twenty million copies, so this success speaks for itself. In 2000 the band fell apart, but in 2007 they’ve decided to reunite and performed at the number of concerts, however before Gately’s death there was no information on the release of anything new.

AdrenaLinn Sync

Filed under: Uncategorized | Back to: Homepage

Roger Linn Design has introduced AdrenaLinn Sync – a software plug-in that offers the same unique beat-synced filter modulation and sequencing effects of their AdrenaLinn III guitar pedal.

It goes further than the AdrenaLinn III, though, adding:

    * More Control — More parameters to fine-tune your filter modulation and filter sequencing effects.
    * More Randomness — Random sequence generation, random LFO amplitude, plus variable probability of randomly-generated notes or envelope firing.
    * More Swing — In additional to half or full swing timing for sequenced notes, you also get on randomly-generated notes.
    * Noise source for Self-Generated Noise Beats — Use noise with the sequencer to create synthesized drumbeats, or to excite resonant filters into self-oscillation.
    * 2 Simultaneous Modulation Paths — Separately route LFO & Sequencer, or Sequencer Level & Sequencer Envelope, to individual levels of filter frequency, volume and pan modualtion.
    * Full Stereo Signal Path — Maintain full stereo from input to output.
    * Self-generating sequences — Increase resonance to full for self-oscillating filter or flanger, then use the Sequencer for random or looped self-generating note sequences.
    * Musical Scale Constraints — Snap the LFO or Sequencer modulation signals chromatic, major, minor, pentatonic, blues, whole tone, diminished or seven other musical scales.
    * Tube-Modeled Distortion — A very warm and smooth distortion with pre-hipass and post-lowpass filters.
    * Stereo phaser — A rich, 4-stage stereo phaser.
    * 10 Second Stereo Delay with Ping Pong — Makes your beat-synced delays and delay loops more useful. Delay loops as long as 8 bars in length (up to 10 seconds).
    * Clean & Simple User Interface — Clearly shows signal flow and modulation routing.
    * 128 Great Presets — Includes all of AdrenaLinn III sequenced, random and modulation presets, plus some new self-generating pitched sequences and noise drumbeats.
