Morphestra

Sample Logic have introduced Morphestra the Cinematic Orchestra - a “powerful collection of creatively new and inventive organic ensembles derived from orchestral recordings.”

Morphestra is a collection of over 23 GB and 1100+ instruments and multis, powered by Kontakt Player. Sample Logic has tried to create a modern day virtual instrument that goes above and beyond any orchestral/effectual sample library geared for film, TV and game composers.

Sounds have been recorded from all over the world and include: Strings, Brass, Winds, Symphonic/World percussion, Vocals, Guitars, Waterphone, Animals, Warehouses, Tools, Machinery and an entire realm of World/Ethnic instruments. We then manipulated these sounds using various proprietary Sample Logic techniques and combined them with multiple electronic synthesis elements to create new, organic, never-before-heard instruments and ensembles.

Morphestra  comes pre-installed on a portable 80 GB Glyph hard drive. It’s expected to ship in October and retail fro $699.

Light Guitar

Options:

    * Frequency Multiplier - Increase/Decrease the size of the guitar body, changing the frequency range of the instrument.
    * Resonance Type - Two different configurations were measured for the Light guitar, one that excites waves on the outer surface of the instrument and one exciting internal modes - both are included and independently selectable.
    * Instrument String - The strings on an acoustic instrument have a large effect on the instrument’s sound and the same effect applies to light instruments. However, a string for a light instrument is a coaxial cable. The real and imaginary impedance of the coaxial cable connected to the light guitar is user selectable.
    * Response Time - The impulse slider lets you change how long the light guitar alters music played through the plug-in.

Both oscillators feature modulating LFO / HFOs (low and high frequency) as well as VCFs for each oscillator, VCF 1 includes an ADSR input section. The high frequency modulation creates FM synthesis type sounds. Mixing this with the phase distortion and subtractive sounds makes for a lot of possibilities. You can also use the L(H)FOs for standard LFO fx. The L(H)FO on OSC 1 is routed to the amp section of OSC 1 and the L(H)FO of OSC 2 is routed to the modulation depth of OSC 2, playing with this can create very interesting ring modulation and FM type sounds.

There are 32 built in presets that range from warm pads, Casio emulation, metallic craziness, warm analog basses and drums. It also features an oscilloscope just for fun.
